DN, the biggest daily newspaper in Sweden, went through a reorganization. The printing plant was moved from the main building, and the entrance was moved to the back where the loading bay was. There were air intakes and outlets, loading platforms, a driveway to the underground garage and a chaotic jumble of surfaces and materials. There were three of us, Gunilla Bandolin, Richard Nonas and myself, who designed the site. Finally we managed to do the next-to impossible – to clean up the place and create a no-nonsense, lightly arched, paved surface, on which a row of cloven rocks were placed. The arrangement symbolises the ability and calling of journalism to point to the truth and bring hidden and unknown facts to light. Again, the clients’ positive attitude was a prerequisite of the completion of the project.
