With Vägvisaren, the new entrance to Tierp got a separate and distinctive indication of the flat landscape. The cones are 3.5 meters high and stands in a formation that changes when you move in relation to it.
The cones are made of shiny expanded metal that creates a shimmering effect of moiré. They are made by hand in Mariefred by the smith Ulf Haake.
Daytime Vägvisaren interact with sunlight. At night, the cones are illuminated from within. The colors are subtle light. They change color very slowly so you do not see no shift when you drive past, but when you drive past the next time the color is probably another. Vägvisaren is like milestones of air and light. They welcome anyone who comes to Tierp.
